Kurant Vodka

Craving a sharp and tart flavored drink? Kurant vodka is the ultimate solution.

One of the best-selling flavored vodkas manufactured by the famous Swedish-owned Absolut company, it was released in 1992. It derives its sweet and tart flavor from black currant berries grown in the Arctic region of northern Sweden. The flavor was developed from a common practice in Russia in which vodka is sweetened with black currant berries.

Generally available in a 750 ml bottles, Kurant vodka prices range from $18 to $27, depending where it is sold. Kurant vodka makes a great flavored addition to a multitude of recipes.

The following is a list of some popular Kurant vodka drinks:

Kurant Affair
Ingredients:
•    1 ½ oz Kurant Vodka
•    Splash of Club Soda or Sparkling Water
•    Cranberry Juice
•    Lime Slice

Directions:
Pour vodka into a glass filled with ice. Fill the remainder with cranberry juice and top with a splash of club soda or sparkling water. Garnish with the lime slice.

Kurant Imperial Kir
Ingredients:
•    1 oz Kurant Vodka
•    1 oz Crème de Casis
•    Champagne

Directions:
Mix vodka with Crème de Casis in a champagne glass. Fill the remainder with Champaign.

Kurant Bon Bon
Ingredients:
•    1 oz Kurant Vodka
•    1/2 oz Godiva Liqueur

Directions:
Pour ingredients into a brandy snifter and stir gently.

Kurant & 7UP
Ingredients:
•    1 1/2 oz Kurant Vodka
•    7UP
•    Lemon Slice
•    Maraschino Cherry

Directions:
Fill a Collins glass with ice, then pour vodka into the glass. Fill the remainder of the glass with 7UP and garnish with the lemon slice and maraschino cherry.

Kurant Kazi
Ingredients:
•    1 oz Kurant Vodka
•    ½ oz Triple Sec
•    2 Lime wedges

Directions:
Combine all the ingredients and muddle. Strain the mixture and serve in a martini glass.

Kurant Sunrise
Ingredients:
•    1 ¼ oz Kurant Vodka
•    5 oz Orange Juice
•    Splash of Grenadine

Directions:
Pour vodka and orange juice into a glass filled with ice. Add a splash of grenadine and serve.

Slippery When Wet
Ingredients:
•    ¾ oz Kurant Vodka
•    ¼ oz Captain Morgan Rum
•    ¾ oz Strawberry Liqueur
•    ½ oz Lime Juice
•    1 tsp Grenadine

Directions:
Combine all of the ingredients in an ice shaker, shake well, strain, and serve the mixture in a tall glass with ice.

Kurant Margarita
Ingredients:
•    ¾ oz Kurant Vodka
•    ½ oz Orange Curacao
•    ½ oz Lemon Juice

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and shake well over ice. Strain the mixture into a Margarita glass and line the rim with sugar.
